Admin Guide - Add Project Schedule LWC Action

There are two (2) versions of the Project Gantt - the legacy Gantt Visualforce and the Gantt Lightning Web Component (Gantt LWC).

The Gantt Lightning Web Component (Gantt LWC) is an upgrade of the existing Project Gantt from a Visualforce component to a Lightning Web Component (LWC) aligning it with the current Salesforce platform architecture and programming language. This upgrade brings a more intuitive user interface, aligned with the Lightning aesthetic. It also enhances performance and scalability.

The Gantt Version field on the Project determines which version of the Gantt to display - LWC or Visualforce.

There is a new Project Schedule Action that can be added to the Project Page Layout which, when clicked on, will open the project schedule. If the Gantt Version is set to "Visualforce", the Project Schedule action will open the project schedule in the legacy Gantt Visualforce page. If Gantt Version is set to "LWC" or is blank, it will then open the project schedule in the Gantt Lightning Web Component (LWC).

This help article will show you how to add the new Project Schedule action to your Project Page Layout.

    Please note:

You must be a Salesforce System Administrator to complete the steps below as it requires access to Salesforce Setup.

    Relabel Project Schedule Action

There are now two (2) Project Schedule actions that are available as part of Inspire Planner. The legacy Project Schedule action only supports Gantt Visualforce and will always open the project in the legacy Gantt Visualforce component regardless of the Gantt version. The new one supports both Gantt Visualforce and Gantt LWC. The version of the Gantt displayed is dependent on the value in the Gantt Version field.

    Please note:

The new Project Schedule LWC action supports both Gantt Visualforce and Gantt LWC. It references the value in Gantt Version to determine which component to display. It is important to note, however, that when Gantt Version is blank, it will display in Gantt LWC.

This means if you have existing projects in Gantt Visualforce and where Gantt Version is blank, when you click on the Project Schedule LWC action, it will open the project in Gantt LWC instead of Visualforce. Therefore, you can choose to either update the value in Gantt Version to "Visualforce" or you can choose to add both the legacy Project Schedule action and the new Project Schedule LWC action to your Project page layouts. Users can then click on the appropriate action button.

To make it easier for your end users to determine which project schedule action to use, we recommend adjusting the label for Project Schedule LWC.

    1. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner and go to Setup.

    2. Enter "Translation" in the Quick Find box and click on Override.

    3. Adjust the filter criteria as shown in the image below.

    4. Hover over the empty space under "Quick Action Label Override" beside Project Schedule and click on the Edit Icon.

    5. Double-click on the empty cell and enter "Project Schedule LWC". Then, click on Save.

Add the Project Schedule LWC Action to your Project Page Layout

The next step is to add the new Project Schedule LWC action to your Project page layout.

    1. While still in Setup, go to Object Manager.

    2. Enter "Project" in the Quick Find box and click on Project.

    3. Go to Page Layouts. Then, click on the project page layout you are using. The image below is just an example.

    4. Click on Mobile & Lightning Actions. From the list of actions on the right, look for Project Schedule LWC. Drag and drop it under "Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Action".

      Click on Save when finished.

      Please Note:
If you are using record types, you will need to repeat the steps above to add the Project Schedule LWC button to any page layout that needs it.
