Admin Guide - Add the Project and Project Task History LWC to the Project Lightning Record Page

Last Modified On: April 9, 2025

The Inspire Planner Project and Project Task History Lightning Web Component (LWC) combine and display the field history for both project and project tasks. This makes it easier for project managers to see what fields on the project or project task were updated, when the update took place, who made the update, and what the old and new values are.

This help article will show you how to add the Inspire Project and Project Task History LWC to your Project Lightning Record page.

    Please note:

    • The Project and Project Task History LWC only displays updates to fields in the project and project task object where field history tracking is enabled. For more information, please see Track Object Field History.

    • The steps in this help article must be completed by a Salesforce System Administrator as it requires access to Salesforce Setup.

    1. Click on the Gear icon in the top right corner and go to Setup.

    2. Go to Object Manager.

    3. Enter "Project" in the Quick Find box and click on Project.

    4. Go to Lightning Record Pages and click on the Lightning record page you use for projects. The image below is just an example.

    5. Click on Edit.

      Please note:
If you are using an out-of-the-box Inspire Planner Lightning record page, you will need to clone it first and then edit the clone.

    6. The Inspire Project and Project Task History LWC can be added to any area on the project Lightning page (for example - in the Related Tab).

In this example, we are going to add the component to its own tab within the Project Lightning record page.

The first step is to create a new tab. Click on the Tab area of the Lightning Page. Then, click on Add Tab.

    7. It will add a new "Details" tab as a default. Click on it and set the following values:

      Tab Label = Custom
Custom Label = enter your preferred tab label. In the example below, we are going to set the custom label to "Project and Task History"

Click on Done when you are finished.

    8. You will now see a new tab with the custom label you entered. Click on it.

    9. Then, from the list of components in the panel on the left, scroll down to "Custom - Managed" and drag Inspire - Project and Task History Viewer to the area under the Project and Task History tab.

Click on Save when you are finished. If you haven't activated the Lightning record page, you will also need to activate it by clicking on the "Activation" button.
