Admin Guide - Assignment Completion Rule

    The Assignment Completion Rule feature gives you greater control over how Project Tasks are marked complete when multiple resources are assigned. You can now choose whether a Project Task is completed only when all assignees finish their Salesforce Tasks (current behavior) or as soon as the first assignee completes their task.

     

    The rule is set at the Project level and can be overridden for individual Project Tasks, making it easy to support different workflows within the same project. When using First to Complete, Inspire Planner automatically completes the remaining assignment tasks to keep everything in sync—improving efficiency and reducing manual updates.

     

    This enhancement provides more flexible task completion logic while maintaining consistent data and user experience across projects.

     

    This help article will walk you through the necessary configurations to use this feature.

     

     

    Please note:

    You must be a Saleforce System Administrator to complete the steps outlined in this article.

     

     

    Required Permissions

    The following Inspire Planner Standard Permission Sets already include access to the fields and apex classes used by this feature.

    • Inspire Planner Standard User - v1.12 Permissions

     

    If you are using custom permission sets, you will need to edit them and grant access to the fields and apex classes used by this feature. 

     

    1. In Setup, enter "Permission Sets" in the Quick Find box and click on Permission Sets.


       
    2. Click on the name of your custom permission set. The image below is just an example.


       
    3. Go to Object Settings.


       
    4. Go to the Projects object.


       
    5. Click on Edit.


       
    6. Enable Read Access and Edit Access for the following field:

      Assignment Completion Rule

      Click Save when finished.


       
    7. Go back to Object Settings and go to the Project Task object.


       
    8. Click on Edit.


       
    9. Enable Read Access and Write Access for the following fields:

      Override Completion Rule
      Task Completion Rule

      Click on Save when you are finished.

     

    Page Layout Adjustments

    Next, you need to update your Project and Project Task Page Layouts and add the fields used by this feature.

     

    Project Page Layout

    This section will guide you through the page layout adjustments you need to make for projects.

     

    1. In Object Manager, go to the Project object.


       
    2. Go to Page Layouts and click on the page layout you are using for projects. The image below is just an example.


       
    3. Drag the Assignment Completion Rule field to your desired area on the page. Click on Save when finished.


       
    4. Repeat the steps above for all page layouts you use for projects.
       

     

    Project Task Page Layout

    This section will guide you through the page layout adjustments you need to make for project tasks.

     

    1. In Object Manager, go to the Project Task object.


       
    2. Go to Page Layouts and click on the page layout you are using for project tasks. The image below is just an example.


       
    3. Drag the following fields to your desired area on the page:

      Task Completion Rule
      Override Completion Rule

      Click on Save when finished.

     

    Lightning Record Page Adjustments

    If you are using dynamic forms for your project and project task Lightning record pages, then you will also need to ensure that the following fields are added to your Lightning record pages.

     

    • In the Project Object, add the following fields to your Lightning record page:
      • Assignment Completion Rule
         
    • In the Project Task Object, add the following fields to your Lightning record page:
      • Task Completion Rule
      • Override Completion Rule
