Admin Guide - Portfolio Dashboard

Last Modified On: July 2, 2026

The new Portfolio Dashboard provides a visual, read-only executive summary directly on the Portfolio Lightning record page, enabling portfolio managers to monitor the health of all projects from a single view.

    Features include:

    • Portfolio Summary – Displays key portfolio KPIs, including total projects, project health distribution (On Track, At Risk, Off Track), completed projects, and overall budget utilization.
    • Health Matrix – Provides a visual heat map of project health across multiple dimensions, such as overall health, budget, schedule, resources, scope, risks, and issues, helping identify projects that require attention.
    • Portfolio Roadmap – Displays a timeline of all projects, showing project duration, progress, health status, and schedule alignment across the portfolio.
    • Projects Needing Attention – Highlights projects that are At Risk or Off Track, including progress, budget status, and open risk counts to help prioritize action.
    • Upcoming Milestones – Provides a cross-project view of upcoming and overdue milestones, sorted by urgency.
    • Budget Overview – Compares planned and actual spending for each project using visual progress bars and portfolio-level budget totals.
    • Effort Overview – Compares planned versus actual labour hours across projects to help monitor resource effort and utilization.
    • Portfolio Risks – Consolidates open risks and issues from all projects, displaying priority, ownership, project association, and risk type.
    • Resource Allocation – Summarizes team members assigned across the portfolio, highlighting project assignments, project health distribution, and individuals supporting multiple at-risk projects.

    Additional capabilities:

    • Automatically loads when the Portfolio record is opened.
    • Includes a Refresh button to reload the latest portfolio data.
    • Supports a vertically scrollable layout for easy navigation.
    • Individual dashboard panels can be shown or hidden, and configurable display limits can be set using Lightning App Builder.
    • Uses native Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) styling for a consistent Lightning Experience.
    • Version 1 supports Static Portfolios only, with support for Dynamic Portfolios planned for a future release.

    Please note:

    • You must be a Salesforce System Administrator to complete the steps outlined in this help article as it requires access to Salesforce setup.
    • This feature will be available with the Inspire Planner JUL 2026 Major Release available in Production environments on August 11, 2026.

Add the Portfolio Dashboard to your Lightning Record Page

Follow these steps to add the Portfolio Dashboard to your Portfolio Lightning record page.

    1. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner and go to Setup.

    2. Navigate to Object Manager.

    3. Enter "Portfolio" in the search box and click on Portfolio.

    4. Go to Lightning Record Pages and click on the Lightning record page you are using. The image below is just an example.

    5. Click Edit.

      Please note:
If you’re using the standard Inspire Planner Lightning record page, you’ll need to clone it before making any changes. Edit the cloned Lightning record page rather than the standard page.

    6. Click on the page to select it. Then, click Add Tab in the right panel.

    7. A new Details tab is added. Select the tab, set Tab Label to Custom, and enter Dashboard (or your preferred label) in the Custom Label field. Click Done to save your changes.

    8. Drag the new Dashboard tab to the desired position in the tabs list on the right.

    9. Next, click the new Dashboard Tab on the page.

    10. From the Components panel, expand Custom – Managed, then drag the Inspire - Project Dashboard component onto the Dashboard tab.

      Click Save when finished.

    Customize the Portfolio Dashboard

Configure the Portfolio Dashboard using the properties available in the right-hand panel.

Select or clear each option to show or hide individual dashboard panels. You can also configure the maximum number of Health Matrix rows, Attention Items, Milestones, Milestone Lookahead Days, Budget, EffortRisks & Issues, and Resources displayed on the dashboard.

Click Save when you have finished configuring the dashboard properties. If you have not already done so, be sure to activate the Lightning record page so the Project Dashboard is available to users.
