A change request is a formal proposal to modify any aspect of the project. It might come from stakeholders, the project team, or external factors, and it needs to be evaluated before being approved or rejected.
A change log is a central record of all change requests, including:
What the requested change is
When it was submitted
Who requested it
Its current status (e.g., submitted, approved, rejected)
Approval/rejection reason
Impact analysis (on scope, timeline, budget, etc.)
You can create and manage change requests directly in Inspire Planner projects. Below are some examples of change requests for an onboarding project:
Example 1: EXTEND ONBOARDING TIMELINE
Change Request: Extend the onboarding period from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.
Reason: Feedback from recent hires indicated they felt rushed.
Impact: Adjust project timeline and update onboarding checklist to reflect extended activities.
Example 2: INCLUDE DEPARTMENT-SPECIFIC ORIENTATION
Change Request: Add department-specific orientation sessions to onboarding.
Reason: Department heads requested time to introduce team tools and workflows.
Impact: Increases coordination requirements; additional calendar scheduling needed.
Please note:
To create a change request for a project, you will need to first go to the project and then click on the Change Requests tab.
Complete the change request form with detailed information to help reviewers understand the request clearly and make timely decisions.
If you need to link a change request to another Salesforce object, your Salesforce System Administrator can create custom lookup fields to support this. Lookup fields to both the Project and Project Task are already provided by default.
Click on Save when finished.
To see all change requests for the project, click on View All.
You can sort change requests in ascending or descending order by clicking on any column header.
To view the details of a change request, simply click on the Change Request Name.
To edit the details of a change request, scroll to the end of the row, click on the dropdown arrow and select Edit.
Another way to edit the change request is to open the change request record and then click on the Edit button in the top right corner.
The following change request reports are available with Inspire Planner:
You can find them in Reports --> All Folders --> Inspire Planner Reports.
