External Project Portal - Enable External Chatter

Inspire Planner makes it easy to collaborate with people outside your organization by allowing you to share projects with external contacts as Project Collaborators.

When you share a project with an external contact, they’ll receive an email with a link to access the project through the Inspire Planner External Project Portal. From there, they can view project details and update any tasks assigned to them—helping to keep everyone informed and aligned.

Task Chat - External Chatter

You can also enable Task Chat for external collaborators, allowing them to view and participate in conversations directly from the External Project Portal. Task Chat is enabled on a per-project basis, giving you full control over whether chat is available for each project.
 

• Required Settings:

  • The Enable Chatter in Project Portal setting must be enabled in Custom Settings to allow external contacts to view and participate in task discussions.
     
  • External Chatter must also be enabled for the project before external contacts can access and participate in Task Chat through the External Project Portal.
    
    Note: Task Chat requires a Premium+ Success Plan. Please contact customer.success@inspireplanner.com to have these features enabled for your organization.
    
• Only contacts added as Project Collaborators will have access to the project in the External Project Portal.
   
• All Project Collaborators with access to the project can view and participate in Task Chat conversations. Chat visibility cannot be restricted to specific collaborators within the same project.
   
• External collaborators can post new messages and reply to existing conversations, enabling seamless collaboration with internal project team members.

Enable External Chatter

This section shows you how to enable external chatter for a project.

1. Open the Project and go to the Details tab.
   
   
    
2. Set Enable External Chatter to TRUE. When this field is set to TRUE, external collaborators can view and participate in Task Chat discussions for the project through the External Project Portal.
   
   Click Save to save your changes.
   
   

View and Post Updates in Task Chat

This section explains how external collaborators (Contacts) can view, participate in, and reply to Task Chat discussions through the External Project Portal.

1. When external chatter is enabled for a project, the Task Chatter icon displays beside the task in the Task List. The icon is shown only for tasks that belong to projects where Enable External Chatter is set to TRUE.
   
   
    
2. Click the Chatter icon to view and post updates in the Task Chat. The Task Chat panel opens in a sliding panel on the right side of the page.
   
   
   
    
3. To post an update, enter your message at the bottom of the Task Chat panel, then click the Post icon.
