Looking for a good way to quickly create project tasks? Rather than entering task details from scratch, use the Copy and Paste feature by following these simple steps.
We've designed the Inspire Planner interface to be as intuitive as possible to make it easy for you to navigate and perform actions you are already familiar with. Copying and pasting tasks within the Project Task list is as simple as using the Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V keyboard functions. You can copy and paste tasks in the same project or between projects, as long as both projects are open in the same web browser.
First, select the tasks you wish to copy. Click on a task to select it. If you wish to select multiple tasks, then hold down your Ctrl key and click on each task you want to copy. If the tasks you are copying are adjacent to each other, you can click on the first task to select it and then hold down your Shift key and click on the last task. This will highlight all the tasks between the two tasks you clicked on.
Please note:
When copying tasks, all project task information is copied. This means that if the project task has related checklist items, these will also be copied. If the project task is assigned to a resource, then the task assignments are also copied.
After you've selected the tasks you wish to copy, click on Ctrl + C. Then navigate to a row within the project where you'd like to paste the copied tasks and press Ctrl + V.
You can perform the same steps above to copy and paste tasks between projects. When you paste tasks into the destination project, the task start/finish dates are automatically adjusted according to the Project Start Date Setting (for forward-scheduled projects) or Project End Date Setting (for backward-scheduled projects) of the destination project. If there are nonworking days on the destination project, and the tasks you pasted fall on any of these nonworking days, they are automatically rescheduled to the next earliest working day.
You can then make the necessary adjustments to the tasks you pasted, such as indentations, adjusting duration, start and finish dates, predecessors, status, etc. If the project task you copied is assigned to a resource, then the task assignment is also copied to the destination project. If the assigned resource does not yet exist as a project team member in the destination project, then a new project team record for the resource is automatically created.
Once you are finished and would like to save your changes, click on the Save Project Plan icon in the Project Toolbar on the left.
Please note that you can copy and paste a maximum of 1000 task rows at a time.
