A Task dependency component is displayed on top of the page when viewing a project Salesforce task. This feature makes it easy for you to view the status of predecessor and successor tasks. You can easily see if the predecessor task is delayed or ahead of schedule and it also allows you to see successor tasks that will be affected by the task you are viewing or working on.
The Chatter feed for predecessor and successor tasks is also available so you can easily communicate with other project collaborators. Please note that the Chatter feed icon is only available with the lightning component and is not available in Classic.
Predecessor Task Component
Start with the video below:
Let's go over the information displayed within the Predecessor Task Component.
If the task you are viewing has predecessor and successor tasks, you will see both within the component. If the task has multiple dependencies, you will see several predecessor and/or successor tasks.
This colum displays the type of dependency that exists between the task you are viewing and its predecessor and successor tasks.
To the left of each predecessor and successor task is a task health indicator that tells you if the task is on track or overdue.
This means that the predecessor and/or successor task is on track.
This means that the predecessor and/or successor task is 1-3 days behind the expected Finish Date.
This means that the predecessor and/or successor task is more than 3 days behind the expected Finish Date.
When in Lightning environment, a Chatter Icon also appears to the right of each predecessor and successor task which allows you to view the Chatter feed for each task. Simply click on the Chatter Icon to view and/or post on the task's Chatter feed.
The Chatter feed for the task will display on the page. You can then see all Chatter messages posted for the task. You can also choose to post an update on the Chatter feed.
Please note that the Chatter Icon is not available on the VisualForce component in Salesforce Classic environment.
