Set Salesforce Task Record Type for Inspire Planner

Record Types in Salesforce provide you with a way of grouping many records of one type for a specific object. Record types allow you to have different page layouts, fields, required fields, and picklist values.

If you are using Record Types for your Salesforce Tasks, you are able to specify the Salesforce Record Type to be used by Inspire Planner when it creates Salesforce Tasks. Salesforce Tasks are created by Inspire Planner when you:

    • Assign Project Tasks to resources (user, contact or queue)
    • Create a booking task in Resource Utilization

This help article shows you how to set the Salesforce Record Type to be used by Inspire Planner.

    Please Note:

You must be a Salesforce Administrator to complete the steps outlined in this article.

Copy Salesforce Task Record Type ID

The first step is to take note of (or copy) the Salesforce Task Record Type ID of the record type you wish to use for Inspire Planner.

    1. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner, and go to Setup.

    2. Go to Object Manager

    3. Enter “Task” in the Quick Find box and click on Task

    4. Go to Record Types. Click on the Record Type you would like to use for Inspire Planner.

The image below is just an example of a custom record type.

    Populate Custom Settings

Once you've copied the Salesforce ID of the Record Type you wish to use, you will then need to populate (or paste) it in Custom Settings.

    1. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner, and go to Setup

    2. Enter “Custom Settings” in the Quick Find box and click on Custom Settings
