Admin Guide - Setting Activity Organization-Wide Defaults for Sharing

In order for assigned resources (users or contacts) to be able to update their tasks, Inspire Planner requires that the Organization-Wide Default for the Activity object is set up for sharing. This means that the Organization-Wide Activity object will need to be set to 'Controlled by Parent'.
 

Setting the object to 'Controlled by Parent' means that a user can perform a certain action (view, edit, delete, etc.) if they have permission to perform the same actions on the record associated with it. 

This article will walk you through how to set Organization-Wide Sharing for the Activity object to be 'Controlled by Parent'.

In Salesforce Lightning

This section will walk you through how to set Organization-Wide Sharing for the Activity object in the Salesforce Lightning Environment.

1. Click on the Gear icon at the top right corner and go to Setup. 
   
   
    
2. Enter “Sharing Settings” in the Quick Find box on the left and click on Sharing Settings.
   
   
    
3. Click on Edit for Organization-Wide Defaults. 
   
   
    
4. Scroll through the list of objects and look for Activity. Set the Default Internal Access to Controlled by Parent and click on Save.
   
   

In Salesforce Classic

This section will walk you through how to set Organization-Wide Sharing for the Activity object in the Salesforce Classic Environment.

1. Click on the dropdown arrow beside your username at the top right corner and go to Setup. 
   
   
    
2. Enter “Sharing Settings” in the Quick Find box on the left and click on Sharing Settings.
   
   
    
3. Click on Edit for Organization-Wide Defaults. 
   
   
    
4. Scroll through the list of objects and look for Activity. Set the Default Internal Access to Controlled by Parent and click on Save.
